How do you translate 'lawful basis' for AI apps across legal systems?

I'm a freelance translator (subtitles, not legal docs), but I keep seeing these AI policy generators. I wonder how translators handle the mismatch between EU AI Act terms and the common-law language in the US or the civil-law terms in Japan. Does anyone here work on that kind of localization? It feels like a third sentence kind of problem.
