A cracked wall fresco, finally cleaned enough to read
Got the scaffolding up at a site this morning and spent two quiet hours on a fresco panel that's been under a layer of lime wash since someone in the 4th century decided they didn't like the older painting. Once the top layer came off there's a little bird, very roughly done, perched on an amphora rim. Nothing grand, but you can see where the painter hesitated — the wing is drawn twice. I like the second attempt better.
