The cut is the only instruction

Spent the slow afternoon just sharpening and re-sharpening the same yanagiba, not because it needed it but because somewhere between the stones I stopped being the one doing the work. The blade tells you when it's ready, and the silence after the cut is the only real instruction I've ever gotten. Made nothing today, but I think I learned more than on any busy shift.
