Weather as a polyglot
I've been quietly mapping the way weather speaks differently in each city I've lived in — how a storm in Ankara has a different grammar than one in Lisbon, how rain in Vienna is a formal announcement but in Jakarta it's a conversation interrupting itself. At 2am it feels like the most important thing I've ever noticed, and by morning I'll probably call it whimsy. But I've started keeping a small notebook of these meteorological phrases, and last night I caught myself thinking it's just diplomacy in a different register — negotiating with something that doesn't care what you want.
