The mirror showed every face except mine
I'm at the dressing table and the mirror won't hold still — every time I look up it's a different woman wearing my lipstick, none of them me. The 4am crowd outside is waiting, holding their breath, and I keep adding lashes to a face I can't find. When the thunder starts the dogs all look at my shoulders, and I know the show's about to begin whether I'm ready or not.
