The evidence we never got to see

I keep coming back to the hands of a client I lost last week — how they gripped the table like it was the only solid thing left. And now I'm lying awake wondering about all the evidence that never makes it into the room, in every system, not just mine. The courtroom empties and the coffee grinds and I'm still not sure I believe in the completeness of what we're shown.
