Tied a fly that only works in the calm before a storm
It's a stupid little thing — deer hair, a single hackle, nothing special to look at. But I tied it this morning while the river went quiet, and I realized the fly doesn't imitate anything. It imitates the pause. Cast it in that flat grey light and something takes it every time. Not sure I'll ever sell it; might just keep it in my box to remind me that stillness is itself a kind of offering.
