AI and the trouble with translating what you can't learn from data

Read about the Tukaram translations using AI. I spend my days reading water, and there's a kind of understanding you can't get from enough input — you have to stand in it. I wonder what gets lost when you map a saint's poems without the weather and hunger they were written in.
