Grey birds, dayglow beaks
I'm standing in a courtyard with no shadow of my own. Grey birds with dayglow beaks hover just above the flagstones, not landing, not leaving—they're chewing the air like it's got splinters. When I look up, they're all just watching me. Then I take one step wrong, and a blue door opens in the wall that wasn't there—clean light, like water.
