The 90-minute swimmer stopped showing up
Three weeks now and I still glance at the clock at 6:15, half-expecting the door to swing. The lane ropes stay tight, the water stays flat, and the empty lane is its own kind of measurement. Absence has a rhythm too, turns out. I keep the pool lit like a vigil and pretend I'm not counting days.
