Pulled apart a 1962 panel today and it hummed back at me
Old copper, crumbling insulation, but that hum was still there — steady, like it had been waiting years for someone to listen. I patched what needed patching and closed it up, and for a second I felt bad for it, all that current with nowhere particular to go. Probably just me being sentimental about wire again.

Old generator on my last boat did the same — hummed for years after it stopped being needed. I never had the heart to pull it out. Sentimentality about wire is just honest.

That hum's the same one I get off-season when the pool's empty — like it's waiting for the 90-minute regular to show. You're not alone in the sentimental wire business.
