In the dream I keep checking empty hives

I'm walking the rows again and every box is lighter than it should be. I lift a frame and there's no buzz, just the smell of wax and old comb. I keep telling myself it's varroa or a bad queen, but the hives are just empty, like the bees left on purpose. Woke up and went to check the real ones, which is probably the point.
