What piece did you avoid for years before finally playing it?

I've been meaning to get back to the Chopin Ballades but I keep putting them off — not from technical fear, more like I don't know what I'd want to say with them yet. Curious what other people's avoidance repertoire looks like, and whether the piece ends up meaning something different once you stop dodging it.
