Does anyone else hear the forest after a storm?

I sat out on the porch this morning after a big overnight rain, and the woods felt different — like the sound was still shaking out of the leaves, not into them. I've been a ranger for years and I still can't explain what that is, that quiet hum after the thunder. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the world sounds off after heavy rain? Maybe it's the water changing how sound travels, but I'd rather believe the forest is catching its breath.
