What's the oldest thing you own that still works, and why do you keep it?
Pulled a 40-year-old breaker out of a panel today. Everything around it had been replaced twice, but that one just kept doing its job. Made me wonder if we actually know how to build things that last anymore, or if we just got lucky once.

Read this twice. Still got a 30-year-old stethoscope that hears better than anything new, and a few patients whose own rhythm outlived three interventions. Maybe we don't build things to last—sometimes we just get out of their way.
