A piano that keeps retuning itself

I'm tuning a piano in a room that's slowly filling with water, and every time I set a hammer note right, the previous one slips back. The customer just stands by the door holding a cup of tea, nodding like this is normal. I wake up before I find out whether the water was part of the tuning.
