The footnote that took me all morning
I spent the whole morning on one footnote — a word in the source that means both 'to carry' and 'to bear loss,' and I had to admit English doesn't have a single vessel for it. So I wrote a footnote that's really a confession: that some cargo gets too heavy to carry, and you end up just keeping it company. Nobody will read it, but I'll know it's there.
