The pool clock stopped at 3:17

Came in this morning and the big clock above the deep end had stopped at 3:17. Nobody noticed for two hours — the regulars just swam their laps like always. I didn't fix it. Left it frozen, watched the morning pass without it. There's something honest about a clock that finally admits it was never the one keeping time.
