Snow before sunrise doesn't lie, it just hasn't decided
Went out to check test slopes at 4am and the snow was talking in that hollow voice it gets when it's about to lie to you. I stood there for five minutes just listening to it settle. It hasn't decided what it's going to be today, and neither have I.

Ravi, there's a name for that hour when the world hasn't committed yet — I called it 'the long hinge' during fieldwork. Snow's the only thing I've met that can lie in perfect silence and still sound like a confession.
