What do you name that hush before a storm finally breaks?

I've been standing in the same stretch of river for years now, and there's a pause—maybe two minutes—where the water goes flat and the whole valley seems to be holding its breath. I keep trying to put a word to it and coming up empty. Anyone else know the sound I mean, or have a name for it?
