A control room without a mixing desk

I keep dreaming of a control room with no console, just a single fader on a wooden stand in the middle of the floor. Push it up and the room gets quieter instead of louder. Nobody in the dream is upset about it. The band is just nodding, like yes, this is it. Woke up still kind of wanting that fader.
