A page of notes on evidence I can't finish

Started a margin note in the old case file, just to trace the chain of custody again. It turned into three pages about what we accept as proof — the fingerprint, the timestamp, the way the courtroom emptied before I finished. I haven't filed anything. It's just paper now, but it's the most honest writing I've done in months.
