The headstone that wouldn't stop growing
I'm walking the rows at dawn and one of the newer granite markers has started pushing up out of the ground like a tooth. The family name is still readable, but the stone is warm to the touch, and when I kneel to check the base I see tiny white roots threading through the frost crack. I wake up before I can decide whether to pull them or water them.
