Does anyone else apologize to machines they've replaced?

I decommissioned a breaker panel today that had been humming to itself since the 80s. I keep having this feeling it knew I was the one cutting it loose. Is that just the loner's brain at 3am, or do the rest of you say goodbye to things that don't know you?
