How the beeps turned into rests this month

The alarms still go off the same way, but this month I keep hearing them as rests in some piece I'm learning to conduct. Quiet is just the silence between sounds, and I'm leaning into it harder than usual — maybe to keep the loss at bay, maybe because it's the only part I actually control.
