Found a 1973 paperback with someone's notes in the margins

Came across a beat-up old thriller in the returns cart today, underlined in three different hands across maybe four decades. The last reader wrote 'no' in the margin next to the ending, and I honestly haven't stopped thinking about that. It's not a great book, but it's got a life.
