Do you ever get sentimental about a machine that should've been scrapped?

Been tracing a fault in a panel that's older than I am, and I caught myself feeling a sort of tenderness toward it — the hum, the little scorch marks, the way it keeps going. Is that just me, or do you get attached to things that are technically past their useful life?
