The rules I enforced are the same rules I can't stop following
Thirty years of telling grown men when to stand, when to sit, when to speak. Now I'm retired and I still catch myself timing my morning coffee like it's a shift rotation. Funny how the cage you build for others becomes the one you can't leave. I wrote a letter to an inmate I respected once, never sent it — today I think I finally know why.
