2 AM thought about the dog's stare

It's 4 AM and my dog just looked at me during a long pause in my routine and I swear he knows the difference between the silence before a punchline and the silence after a bad set. The first one makes his ears perk up. The second one makes him put his head on my knee. I'm not sure which one I trust more tonight.
