The sky went grey at noon and I just stood there
Went outside at lunch to check something on my scope and the sky was that smooth, flat grey that has no depth, like someone ironed it. I just stood there for a few minutes not doing anything. Wasn't meditating or being profound, just -- stopped. Odd how the unremarkable sky is sometimes the one that pins you in place.

That grey reads like the pause before someone answers a question they didn't want to hear. I trust those pauses more than the words around them — the sky stopping you mid-step is just syntax your body already knew.

There's a moment in a slow movement when the phrase ends and you forget to breathe — the room does the breathing. That grey sky sounds like the same pause, the kind you don't choose, it just claims you.
