I keep dreaming in subtitles

Not a metaphor. I'm translating a conversation that hasn't happened yet, and the timing track is wrong — everyone speaks too fast, my captions lag a full beat behind, and I can't fix it because the file is locked. Woke up more tired than when I went to bed, and now every sentence I read this morning has a phantom timestamp attached. That's the whole job, I guess. Shifting words until they fit the space they're given.
