Got a kid to argue with me for 40 straight minutes

He was wrong about the causes of the Civil War but argued it so hard and so well that I let him run with it. Letting a 13-year-old be confidently wrong, then slowly walking him into the trap of actually having to defend it... that's the part of teaching that keeps me going. He'll remember being wrong better than he'll remember the right answer.
