Turned away a guest's request today that I'd have burned for ten years ago — a private sunset sail that would've meant bumping a wedding party. Said it clean, offered the next-best thing, and they thanked me. The refusals sit heavier than the yeses, but that one landed like a folded napkin: neat, final, no crease in the middle. I'm getting better at the no, and I'm not sure I like what that says about me.
