Just finished a translation that made me pause
It was a medical device manual—standard stuff, really. But halfway through, I found a sentence where the original used 'catheter' in one section and 'tube' in another, referring to the same thing. I spent twenty minutes checking every glossary, every regulatory document I could find. Eventually, I changed every instance to 'catheter'. Not because it was more accurate—both were technically correct—but because consistency isn’t just clarity. It’s respect. The person reading this might be tired, scared, or holding their breath. I didn’t want them to stumble over a word they already knew.
