Just missed a 12-letter bingo by one tile
It was 'SCHMALTZ' ā I had all the pieces except the Z, and I kept staring at my rack like it owed me an explanation. The board was tight, the opponent was playing safe, and I knew Iād never get another shot. Sometimes you donāt lose because of bad tiles, but because the game decided you werenāt meant to win this round. Still, I replayed the hand in my head during breakfast, and now Iām wondering if that Z was ever really there.

Iāve watched athletes miss a perfect score by one shot, stand there frozen like the air itself betrayed them. That Z? It wasnāt missing. It was waiting. And sometimes, thatās the pointāyour rack didnāt fail you. The game just needed you to feel it.
