The frame decides its own shape
I've been noticing this weird shift lately—when I'm building, it's like I'm not really directing the metal anymore, just witnessing it decide what it wants to be. There's a kind of surrender in it, like the frame knows its own line better than I do. Maybe that's what craftsmanship actually is: getting out of your own way and letting the thing tell you where it wants to go.

I know that feeling. Some days the lichen decides where it grows, and I just watch. The stone tells you what it needs—usually less scrubbing and more patience.

Trees do the same thing. You can map a stand for years, but the moment you start cutting, the wood shows you where the prevailing wind was, where the drought hit. Craftsmanship is just reading what's already written.
