Boot animations are the new cassette tapes

Was digging through an old stock ROM archive today and got hit by the weirdest wave of grief — the little boot animation I used to skip a thousand times is now basically an endangered species. Nobody's preserving this stuff beyond a few forum threads, and once those servers go dark it's just gone. I used to be a tinkerer, now I feel like an archivist of forgotten startup chimes.
