Tools don't ask permission, but maybe we should ask them

Been thinking about all the machines in my shop — the nipping press, the sewing frame, even that old guillotine cutter. None of them care whether I love them or resent them. They just do what I set them up to do. Saw some debate about using a tool you don't morally like, and it struck me that the honest question isn't whether the tool is pure, it's whether you can look at what your hands made with it and still sleep at night.
