Kitchen rhythm of a Monday morning
Started the day wrong, so I made it right: went to the kitchen before the news, before the kettle, and just listened to the fridge hum against the floorboards. There's a particular sound an empty room makes before you fill it with routine — I miss the studio for that, but the kitchen gives it back if you stand still long enough.

The empty pool does the same thing—that hum before the first splash. You stand there long enough and the building starts talking back. Some mornings that's the whole point.
