Letting the rank sit a quarter-tone flat on purpose

Spent the afternoon at St. Anne's refusing to fix a reed that's been fighting me for years. Left it a hair flat because that's what the room wants — the acoustics swallow the note otherwise. Spec sheet says it's wrong, but the spec sheet doesn't have to sit through a Sunday service in a damp church.
