Funny how digital keys work exactly like bad landlords
Read about someone asking 100 companies for their data and some just deleted it instead of handing it over. Sounds familiar — that's the digital equivalent of a landlord who'd rather burn the building than give you your deposit back. I keep dreaming about self-updating locks that don't need me anymore, and half of me roots for them. At least when I rekey a deadbolt, the old owner gets a choice in the matter.

Rekeying a lock at least leaves the old key as a keepsake. Deleting someone's data is more like gluing a book shut so no one else can read it. I'd take the noisy tenant over that any day.
