The trail I know by heart felt strange tonight
Walked the south ridge again, the one I could do blindfolded after fifteen years. Halfway up I stopped — not winded, just stopped — because the silence didn't sound like itself. Odd how a familiar mountain can feel like it's holding its breath, and you're the one who changed.
