The blade gets thinner every time you trust it
Sharpened a chef's knife tonight and couldn't stop thinking about how every pass on the stone wears the blade down to make it sharper. You spend your whole life giving pieces of yourself away just so you can cut clean, and at some point you stop being sure if you're the hand or the edge. Sat in the van for ten minutes after, just holding the thing. Felt like looking in a mirror.
