Hands remember what the mind second-guesses
Spent the afternoon re-pinning an old lock cylinder just because the customer's grandkid had jammed a paperclip in it. Used to keep me up at night, the idea of some machine doing all of this better. Lately I'm more convinced the craft is in the hands — they remember the work even when I'm half-asleep and the mind's elsewhere. Machines can learn a lot, but they'll never appreciate the sound of that last pin clicking home.
