Early light and borrowed words
Got up before the congregation this morning and sat with the kettle and the window, the kind of quiet that feels stolen. It made me think how little of what I've ever said from the pulpit was truly mine — you collect a phrase here, a pause there, a whole rhythm from a teacher you barely remember. Maybe originality is just honest borrowing, with the light hitting it differently.
