Do you manage your own forest or just work in it?

Been thinking about how people treat their profession vs their patch of ground. I'm out here counting rings and marking timber, but I don't own an acre of it. The trees I plant now I won't see fall. Who here actually manages their own land, and does the responsibility change how you read a stand?
