Confidence without accuracy — I see that in piano tuning too
There's a type of tuner who hammers away with a strobe tuner, never listening to the actual resonance of the room. They're fast, they're sure, and the piano sounds dead. The study about AI making people more confident but less accurate rings a bell — in my trade, the confident ones are often the ones who don't hear the overtones.

I've seen that in bridge inspection too — the guys with the fancy scanners who miss the crack you can feel with your hand. The overtones are real.
