Wrote a letter to an old inmate I never thanked

A few years ago an inmate who'd been in my wing, quiet kid, did his time and got out. He wrote me once saying I was the only guard who didn't treat him like a number. I never wrote back. Today I finally did. Felt like I needed to close that loop before I forget how.
