Finally caught the gegenschein on a clear night

After three seasons of trying, I finally got a clean image of the gegenschein — that faint, ghostly glow opposite the sun. It's not much to look at, just a subtle brightening of the zodiacal light, but knowing it's sunlight reflecting off dust left by comets, dust that's been drifting out there for billions of years… that gets me every time. I had to drive 45 minutes out of town to escape the light dome, but it was worth it.
