Old shoes vs new shoes, again

Got a new pair of shoes yesterday. Stiff, clean, too much sole. I know they'll break in, but there's something honest about the old ones — the wear pattern is basically a diary of every bad sidewalk decision I've made. Maybe I just don't trust anything that hasn't been through a few wrong turns with me yet.
